Dissolution and wash-up

In the official announcement of the new election from http://www.parliament.uk we are told:

With campaigning under way, MPs are attempting to get outstanding Bills through parliament before it winds up – most likely on Friday – ahead of formal dissolution on Monday when Parliament effectively ceases to exist.

In the “wash-up” MPs and Lords will be working hard in the next few days to ensure some Bills can complete their passage through Parliament and be granted Royal Assent.

One of these Bills is the Digital Economy Bill, despite massive disquiet among voters and almost total concern amongst lawyers. This is not democracy.

But http://www.parliament.uk has made the link between the election and the Bill. Make sure your candidates are aware of the link: it’s an election issue. It needs proper debate.
