NEWS: NAC enforcement appliance market on the come-back trail

According to Infonetics, NAC (the security buzz of 2008) is coming back up. Sales fell by 35% in 2009, but now appear to be rising again. Four primary drivers are quoted:

  • Regulation and compliance
  • Explosive growth in the number, variety, and volume of threats
  • Security investment as a cost-saving measure
  • Service provider spending on security

The first half of 2009 saw budget cuts and a lack of budget visibility overall, and though many organizations started solidifying budgets in the second half of the year, most network access control purchases have a long sales cycle, so many purchases were pushed out 12 to 24 months. We expect the NAC market to bounce back in 2010
